A thick circular disk as an endplate is attached to the end of a pipe section.

On the free face, along the centreline of this disk a plate is welded perpendicular to the disk. Let us call this a tab

The load is tensile to the pipe through the tab

This is a familiar setting in pipe setting connections where the tab doesnt go through the pipe.

Any manual calculations for these. We use rules of thumb (like 20% of pipe diameter for disk thickness) or finite element analysis

Any manual calculations or references will be highly appreciated.

I know Packer pretty well, him and Kurobane do this one pretty well, but their work does not include the kind of connection I mentioned.

Unless you tell me the book listed in website above include this then I should not purchase it.

If I understand the type of connection you describe, I believe chapter 6 of the Hollow Structural Sections Connection manual addresses this. I understand that this is no longer available as a seperate publication from AISC but will be included in the new edition of the manual of steel construction
