Can any one show me how to add a dummy P/N into the configuration specific and have it update in the BOM.

You mean a 2nd configuration-specific part number for the same configuration? I think you will have to make a 2nd configuration instead. Could you please clarify your intentions?

Sorry, I didn't say it clearly. My client has an assembly drawing with balloons and BOM setup in the configuration specific, and I am trying to add another part to the drawing (without the physical part). How do I go about to add a dummy part and have it update in the BOM.

Create a part with no geometry and add it to the assembly. It will be included in the BOM.

We have added dummy parts in the assembly like PDMAdmin said for adding RAL powder coat colors and such. If you just want to add an item to the BOM without adding a dummy part in the assembly, then right-click the BOM > Insert Row Above or Row Below. Double-click the cells to add text.

Thanks, both of your suggestions worked beautifully.

sg20 ... be aware that if you "right-click the BOM > Insert Row Above or Row Below. Double-click the cells to add text.", the information entered will be lost if you replace the BOM.

We like to make our dummy parts about .010 inches in diameter. That way if we what a balloon pointing too it we can.

Bradley ... you could select the dummy parts origin for placing the balloon. No need for any geometry.

CorBlimeyLimey,
That is way cool, I never thought of that. A star for you.
Thanks
