Hi,

I am using the automated impact analysis module of NEI Nastran with Femap to model a drop test for a container. To reduce the complexity I have decided to model the corner of the container in isolation. Now this container is going to contain cargo that I want to simulate as a rigid mass. I tried adding a mass element to my model, offset at the centre of gravity for the full scale model but that seems to produce errors. Do I have to physically add the cargo as a new geometry and then assign that mass elements?

Thanks for any help

Ld3Ake,

Without a bit more detail on the kinds of errors you were receiving, I think we're resorted to throwing darts in the dark. However, how did you connect the rigid mass back to the container? If you used rigid body equations, they can be tricky to use and the source of your errors (see thread
