How to allow -- Contact suface seperation

hi,

I am doing a finite element analysis.I used contact element between surface to surface.Now, I want that the two beams that are in contact , will seperate from each other after applying load...they will remain connected only through the corner edge nodes..and the bending,deformation will take place without remaining attached...is this possible to do here? if so then what command shoul I use..?

plz ,help me out here.......
