Hi,

I am working on a 2D model in ANSYS and I would like to apply a heat flux on the boundary of an area. The problem is that I would like the heat flux to be directional (dependent on the angle of the line on which it is applied). For example, the problem is similar to the study of a house roof with variable slope. If you want to apply the heat flux created by the sun, your heat flux is directional and dependent on the slope of the roof.
As an experiment, I have already tried to define a sinusoidal function to apply such kind of load on the circumference of a semi-disc. The diameter of the semi-disc is constrained with a constant temperature. The result seems not suitable because the iso-values obtained are not totally straight (unlike what we could guess intuitively) whereas they are with another FE program.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Hi,
would you be in 3D, I'd tell you would have to use "Surface-Effect" elements overlapped to your geometry.
Due to the fact that you are in 2D, you should search for linear "surface-effect" elements.
I never tried it, but probably doing a search in the help files with key "surface-effect" should do.

Regards
