Hi all,
I'm trying to construct a beam made of 2 sections joined together, one part is steel while the other part is epoxy. I'm using axisymmetric PLANE83 to model the beams in 2D.
Initially, I defined each material property set first, using MP,1,... and MP,2,.... Then, I used MAT to move the pointer to each material before using ET to define the properties, so I have MAT,1 then ET,1,..., then MAT,2 then ET,2,... I was under the impression that this assigned all the MP,1,... properties to element type #1, and all the MP,2,... properties to element type 2. I would then mesh areas with different material properties with element types 1 and 2. Does this work?
An alternative way of doing this seems to be to use the AATT command to assign material properties to specific areas. Since I have areas with different material properties, can I mesh them with the same element type? Is this method the same as the first method?
