Our driven pulley dia is 23.5" and it sould have 940 rpm to acheive the required output. Drive pulley dia and speed have been calculated as 12.5" and 1800 rpm in order to acheive our output in driven pulley. Now the question is how to calculate the required minimum distance between two pulley centers?

Thanks,
BN

You might get an anwer here.

However, this is the Pipelines, Piping nad Fluid Mechanics forum.

(D1 + D2)/2 + 1"??

Seems a quite odd question.

Also: If you get a response it's polite to respond to it.

Think the OP is trying to develop the size of belt and pulleys for a belt driven pump.

There is a simple equation for it, but I'd just download the Gates or Goodyear (now Continental) belt design software.
