I have a site layout where i need to calculate the volume of fill currently on site. The layout has contours shown, at which i have taken a section through each one, and calculated the area under the curve. Is this correct and what is the next step to take. I have the dimensions of my site. Is it as simple as taking this area and multiplying it by width and lenght of my site??
Thanking you in advance.

Use the average end area method.

For example:

If the area at contour 100 = 5000 sq ft
and the area at contour 101 = 4000 sq ft,

then the volume between the two contours is ( approximately )

(5000+4000)/2 * 1 foot = 4500 cu ft

good luck
