I have an assembly with 2 subassemblies. Each of these subs contains about 10 to 15 parts. The first sub is fixed while the second is position behind it. I can take the second sub assy and move it further back as long as I edit the connecting parts lengths in the first sub to accommodate for the difference. Is there any way that when I move the second sub assy I can right a rule, check, action, etc. at the major assy level that will highlight, or notify me of the affected parts in the subs?

Thanks for any help

Yes there is, But it would be very complicated. There is an option to "keep selected link" between files. You then could work in the assembly mode and project edges and constrain your sketches in such a way where if the projected edges move the part would "stretch" in the way you wanted it to. This would be a very complicated with that many parts. But it can be done.

To see how to do this active that option and experiment on a two part assembly.
