How to Change "_1" Default Naming in "New From..."

How do I change the default naming scheme by appending "_1" after the old file name? I just want to change it to somthing other than "_1"

You can't, but if you use Product Knowledge Template to create document and assembly templates, this would be controlled on instantiation from catalogs.
