Is there any way to consider the weight of structural members in an analysis (the geometry is complicated and I cant apply the weight as an external load)? I define the "Density" for my materials, but Ansys doesn't still consider the weight in the analysis.

Thanks
Amin

You have to include an acceleration due to gravity.

To elaborate on what TGS4 said this is done via the ACEL command.

Thanks for the notes. I defined an acceleration of gravity but i experience a strange thing: it takes a long time for Ansys to solve the problem. I didn't expect this to be such a time consuming process.

If the "geometry" is made of several components held together by contacts, then it may be that the problem is "weakly-constrained" or even "ill-constrained" and thus convergence gets difficult even for small forces like gravity ones.
Only a guess, however...
