Dear All,

I am simulating a simple uniaxial tensile test on a 2D square in 2 direction. How to constrain the left and right side edges to keep flat during the deformation?

I tried tie. It doesn't work. It seems that tie is for two overlapping surfaces, but not for two surfaces that only meet each other at their ends.

In the boundary condition, I can only specify a value for U1 or V1, but cannot ask several edges to move at the same velocity V1.

By the way, in the adaptive remeshing, how to know the value of the error indicator, e.g., energy, in every iteration? ABAQUS just tells me whether it is satisfied, but I don't know where to find this value.

Thanks!

Louisa

You can plot the field of the error indicators, just like any other field variable (S, U, etc etc). When you created a resmesh rule, the error indicators you chose were automatcially added to the output requests.

Tip: if you want to have these error indicators available, but don't wish to actually do a remeshing, you can still request them in the step module. Create a set of the region for which you want to have the output, then in Field Output Requests choose the domain to be "Set", pick the appropriate set name and then choose whatever output requests you want...

You should try to use an "Equation" constraint.
