hi;

I recently got a new computer at work, with a new install of ACAD 2002, which we use. Every time I open a new drawing, I get a total of 3 command lines, the current and two past commands. This is the case even though I have selected to only show 1 line in the options under the "display" section, and I always resize the command lines as I work on and save drawings. I still get 3 lines each time the program launches.

Any suggestions? After a while this gets to be a real time waster. Seems like my program might be a little buggy as i is apparently ignoring my selections in "options".

Thanks in advance

sundemon,

I would create a new profile. Maybe it will help...?

I would recomend having more than one line, because there is sometimes information at the line that is important to read.
But to answer you question, I believe the setting is stored in your profile, so you may need to get it set up the way you want, and then export that profile and overwrite whichever one is being used.

thanks,

I'm not really up on creating profiles. Usually, I copy the entire support folder from my autocad program files into another directory, then if I need to reinstall, I paste the folder into the parent directory to overwrite the old support folder in order to reinstate my shortcuts, custom menus, etc. Not elegant, but it works. I'm going to read up about user profiles in the "help". But where is the profile info stored?

The info is stored in the registry. Unless being forced by a macro or routine, the behavior is incorrect. Does your install give you registry rights?

thanks for the info. my IT person supervisor is away for a week, but I'll check into that when he returns.
We are using another program "Design Express" in conjunction with ACAD2002 & XP professional. When running autoCAD alone, my option choice with regard to the command line holds. But when working thru design express, a dwg loads w/ one command line, then a split second later it changes to 3, so obviously something's up. I guess we'll re-install.

thanks again for your help

By default, the command line window size is 3 lines. You have 2 options on how to change this setting. Select tool>>options. The Text lines in command line window setting can be specified in the Windows Elements of the Display tab. The other way, you can dynamically change the size of the command line window (whether floating or docked) by using the resizing cursor. Changing the size of the command line window in this manner automatically updates the value in the edit box. Hope I caught this before you re-install. John
