Yes type pedit> then select the line or lines you wish to transform into polylines. you will be prompted with a message saying Object selected is not a polyline
Do you want to turn it into one? <Y>. hit enter to accept the default and, that's all there is to it.
If you A2K you can use the global poly edit to turn all the lines in your drawing into plines. This is under the express menu.

We have very large AutoCAD drawings done in model space that show the suspected as well as actual locations of our underground campus utilities. We are now looking at making the lines intelligent to add physical & historical data. The problem I am encountering is that the polylines have been broken to accomodate descriptive text. The text is sized for plotting through viewports at several different scales. This all being said, can the pedit command be used to turn the broken lines and arcs back into polylines? I'm still fairly new to the "intelligent" line so thanks for your collective patience!
I doubt if Pedit can join the broken lines or extend the brocen arcs. Instead, maybe EXTEND might do it. The trouble with extend is, each line has to be clicked separately.
A VBA macro might be improvised to do this at one selection.
Pedit [M] (or Mpedit in Acad14) can join multiple plines with a fuzz distance that maybe able to overcome, with a little experimentation, the seperation between the broken plines.

ya by applying region command on a box ,cube or rectangle made by using line command we can change it to pline . also by using pedit command. type pedit then select a line then
