Dear ALL,

I have reviewed reference standard No.: BS 1083:1965 for Screws and Nuts,in this booklet Grades has been mentioned by English letter's such as A,R...and so on,but as i have searched grades for these commodities has been mentioned by numbers such as 4.8,then i want to know how grade 4.8 is as well as grade A, how these categories relate to each other?

Thanks,
Shadi

Look in the ANSI/AMSE standards in the library or websites. Also you can find a discussion in the Machinist Handbook. Don't expect this forum to just hand you an answer, like a one or two line solution. Do your own research.

numbers like 4.8 are defined through ISO-898.

In general, grades are associated with material mechanical properties such as proof strength, yield strength, ultimate strength and hardness.

Not all standards quantify all properties.

There may not be a direct cross between grades established by different standards.
