Hi group
I am trying to define a normal contact behavior between new born surfaces after fracture. I considered a tensile test specimen and simulated its fracture during tensile test in explicit. After fracture two new surfaces are born. I am interested to define contact between them, so I can simulate their interaction. I define a normal contact interaction using general contact (explicit) and All*self contact domain hoping that the new born surfaces will be recognized as exterior surfaces when failure happens, so that i can compress two pieces together and study their deformation. But it seems that there is no contact defined since two surfaces simply penetrate into each other when I press them together. Has anybody tried to establish contact between surfaces that are created after fracture?
Thanks for your time.
