we are required to detect chlorides in de mineralised water.This DM water is made from a plant which consists of cation,anion and mixed bed columns.
qns.
1.can this plant make watre to this quality
2. How do we measure this chiloride content upto .01 ppm levels.
3. how to maitain these levels.

1. If the plant was properly designed and you are operating it correctly, yes it should be able to achieve an effluent chloride content of <0.010 mg/L of Cl.

3. As far as the effluent from the DI train:
a. Don't over-run the units, especially the MB.
b. Use the best quality regenerants and make sure you deliver them at the right concentration and dosage.

Always remember TINSTAFL (there is no such thing as a free lunch), in ion exchange trying to do more with less only leads to problems.
