How to determine K value for a GE generator

Hello,
I am trying to establish the settings for a 32 reverse power relay. In the manual, it is stated that all of the relay settings are a function of the K value for the generator (maximum permissible heating). I am dealing with an old generator (1960) and I do not have many of the original documents. Does anyone know how I might be able to obtain this K value?

thanks

Hi Eeprom.
32 reverse power protection is used as prime mover protection , not as generator protection.
Could you please check yourself.
Maybe you told about 46 ( NPS, imbalanse, unbalance protection) or about 24 ( V/Hz) protection) or about 49 stator overload protection.
What is size and type of prime mover?
Best Regards.

I agree with Slava - the k value is generally associated with rotor heating and negative sequence current, not reverse power.

If this is a GE generator and still has its nameplate, just call GE and give them the serial number. They will be probably be able to track down the information - eventually.

The k value can vary quite a bit - from 30 down to maybe 10 for very large machines.

Oops. Yes, you are both correct. I am referring to the 46 relay. I had both manuals in front of me and I wasn't paying enough attention. I had figured that I would have call GE if I couldn't find an easier way, such as calculating the constant based on generator data. So, I guess it is time to call GE.

thanks
