How do I extrude a 2D shape. I can draw a rectangle or circle and extrude it. I can draw an odd shaped polygon and extrude it if I create as polyline. I would like to extrude an existing 2D enclosed shape that consists of a combination of straight lines and curved lines. I try to convert it to a polyline with p-edit, before extruding, but it does not seem to work.

It needs to be a closed polyline. If it is not closed, do so. If in doubt, use the EditVertex option of PEdit and follow the nodes around the PLine until you see where it is discontinuous or folds back on itself.

One of my favorite commands is the boundary command.
It works very similiar to the bhatch command, but instead of putting a patter fill, it puts either a closed polyline or a region around the extents. Then you can extrude either of these. Of course like the bhatch command all your corners will have to be touching.

Let me know how it works out for you.
I love doing this for house plans, you can bring all the walls up in several easy steps.
