I'm working in a sodaash plant using solvay process. in order to supply CO2 as feedstock, lime furnace is used. CO2 content in the flue gas is about 20%-25%. Due to some operational problems this amount of purity have to be increased to min. 50%. Is there anybody who can tell me, how? Taking into account the presence of oxygen, nitrogen and water vapor in flue gas.

Their are membrane systems that will selectiviely pass CO2. You would have to knockout the water and compress the off gas first. Permea makes a membrane that will work.

Dear PRG
I'd like to appreciate your kind advise, but what I'm seeking is a conventional absorption-regeneration process using a selective absorbant. The reason is at the moment we
have two idle towers with a duty of absorption-stripping CO2. However, they may need to be revamped. I've heard that Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) has licensed such this process.
