Hi I am working as a R&D engineer, and I have 3 simulations in ANSYS workbench. I want to link them, so I can use results from the 1st simulation on the second and from the 2nd on the 3rd.

How can I do it?

Thanks in advance,
Best regards,

Can you elaborate more. What results from the first simulation do you want to use?
Are you talking about coupled multi-physics simulation?

Hi,

Thanks for your reply,

I want to save thicknesses of each element from the first simulation, then mesh the model on the second simulation with the optimized mesh (optimized thicknesses), and then apply the same mesh to a parison that will be inflated. It is a blow-moulding process based on injection. The optimized thicknesses are obtained by an optimization routine in MATLAB, as the initial thicknesses are the same in each element. I want to link the 3 simulations, first is static simulation, with optimization processes, then second is parison stretching and third is inflation. I've got all simulations done in ANSYS workbench. I just need help to setup them to run all at a time, and to couple them to an optimization code (the first simulation is already optimized, the other two steps will be done by another engineer (co-worker))

Can you help me?
Thanks again,
Andrade Silva

If I understood correctly, you have already succesfully coupled WB and MATLAB and gotten results from the first optimization study.

You could take a look into "External Data" functionality of Ansys Workbench. A tutorial (
For this you need MATLAB to write a file which includes thickness for every element (elements are recognized by their element id's).

All the analyses should have a identical mesh in this case.

Ok, I might have misunderstood your intent. So you want to optimize thicknesses of the elements and but
have multiple objects/constraints from three different analysis?

Hi
I want to apply the same mesh to the final object (bottle) and to the initial object (parison). The mesh must have optimized thicknesses, but this is already done. I just need to know how can I apply an abaqus input file with the mesh into Ansys workbench for static and blow moulding analysis, and run all simulations at once. Any clue?

Hi,

Thanks for your reply and for your help. Can you link to a tutorial on how to do want I want to do?
