Hi, I will start at the begining. I want to set my drafting standard(arrow, dimension, font, and more), and I want to dont need to set it each time I open a CATdrawing and I add a dimension. Many people on this forum tell me to Log in Admin mode to set this seting.
There is me question (for the moment) Can anybody explain to me how to log on Admin mode, I dont have idea about this

If you aren't working within your own framework - that is, if you don't own the network, chances are, you won't be logging in as admin. The advice is good, however, it's not exactly practical for the average user.

The point that has also been made - and it's good advice - is to contact the person who *is* the administrator. If they are willing to let you change or add standards, they will be of much more help, most likely, than us on the forum. Or, you can kindly ask them to help you, by reading what has already been posted here, on this forum, regarding the matter.

You don't need to be a Windows (or Unix Admin), you just need to have Write Access to the directories pointed to by CATReferenceSettingsPath and CATCollectionStandard. Then copy your CATIA Startup Icon, and add a -admin to the startup parameters.

Does this CATReferencesettingpath and CATCollectionStandard exist in R15?

Also, where in the startup icon path do you place -admin?

CATReferenceSettingPath and CATCollectionStandard are environment variable set up by your system administrator. They are paths to the directories where your custom standards and options are stored.

Here's the command to start admin on my workstation. Your command may vary in the installation path and the name of your environment file. (note: this is all on one line).

C:\catia\B14\intel_a\code\bin\CATSTART.exe -run "CNEXT -admin" -env "c:\catia\CATEnv\CATIA_P3.V5R14.B14.TEST.txt"

catiajim,

here is my current target---"C:\Program Files\Dassault Systemes\B15\intel_a\code\bin\CATSTART.exe" -run "CNEXT.exe" -env CATIA.V5R15.B15 -direnv "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\DassaultSystemes\CATEnv" -nowindow

instead of cnext.exe i put "cnext -admin", catia opened and i got the error:

Requested ADministration mode failed

Variable CATReferencesettingpath in your environment (as above) not set

Set variable in your environment.

By looking at this, can you see anything that I should change?

Look at your environment file. There needs to be a path defined for those two varabiles (something like C:\myReferenceSettings_v5r14), and you need to have write access to them.

I don't know if you are still having a problem with the admin login, but here is the shortcut target I use.

<Catia loadpoint>\intel_a\code\bin\CNEXT.exe -admin -nowindow

-Jonathan
