Morning all,

John, if you're out there in the abyss somewhere, I could really use your help, as I assume this process will be a difficult one.
Please forgive me if I use incorrect jargon, as I am actually an Autodesk specialist and am trying to get my head around TC & NX.

On our drawing template I have created in NX, I have a field that needs to be populated with the drawing No.

I have been explicitly asked, that this field must be populated with the Dataset name contained inside TeamCenter. As I understand so far, I am going to need to somehow Create a mapping between NX's Automatic text note entry and TC's Dataset name, in order to get the desired result.

How do I do this? We are using NX 7.5 & TC 8.3 (MR & MP 7.5.4)

Thanks in advance...

Filling in the note with <W@DB_PART_NO> will give you the TC Item ID. If you search this forum for that string (or google for it if you can't find it), you'll find the rest of the database attributes that can be added to notes.

Cheers,

Jon

Thanks Jon, but unfortunatly they do not want the Item ID reflected in this field, they specifically want the TC Dataset name to be displayed due to our customized numbering convention.

I believe I will somehow need to use the IMAN utility?

Any other ideas?

In the NX session (with a part open) go to File -> Properties -> Attribute tab. Is the desired dataset name in the list of attributes? If so, reference the title of that attribute in the automatic text.

There are only 5 "Hardwired" TC attributes available in NX. They are DB_PART_NO, DB_PART_NAME, DB_PART_REV, DB_PART_TYPE and DB_PART_DESC. Any others will require setting up mapping between TC and NX and that is a very ugly process. Those 5 attributes can be put into a drawing using Jon's method.

Is anyone able to explain to me how to go about setting up a custom mapping between TC & NX?
