Is there a meter or device that can measure the air velocity within a room (represented in CFM or FPM)? AHJs have been asking this question during fire alarm inspections. They want to know if the spot smoke detectors installed are rated for the air velocity in the particular environment.

The cut sheets for the smoke detectors give a rating for air velocities in feet per minute (FPM).
