I want to install grounding rings in a pipeline which uses a 2-foot long section of glass pipe (the glass pipe is for observation purposes. The flowing media is a non-conductive oil). To drain off the static charge buildup from this glass (which can and has arced when the oil is drained), I want to install ground rings at each end of the glass pipe which is flanged to adjoining steel pipe on each end. The ground rings come with a recommendation to provide " a good earth ground of <1 ohm".
I am told this is not a simple ohm meter measurement but I don't know how to do this. Between what points is this "earth ground" to be measured and how?
Thanks for any reference or replies.
