Hi~

I drawed a cylinder model in DesignModeler and tried to mesh it in the model Mesh of Workbench.
I used Insert→Method and chose SWEEP, and I found the result is like the file attached.
The results is not good.

It's not like this:

How do I draw it in DesignModeler and mesh it in Mesh?
Thannk you!

Hi.

There are a few ways to achieve a mapped mesh on the circular face before sweeping. I'll outline two of them:

1. Use design modeler and create a geometry similar to your expected mesh, i.e. "Extrude" a rectangular block in the centre of your cylinder. Split the remaining circular face in one end radially from the vertices of the quadratic face. Map mesh all five faces, select manual source in your volume sweep mesh method.

2. Use virtual topology inside mechanical to split the edge of the circular face, use the vertices to create a mapped mesh. Then go on as stated above with the volume sweeping.

Hope this helps.

Thank you, petb.
The first method doesn't work.
These five faces will unite.
However, I found the function "Tool→Face Split" in Designmodeler can split the face into five faces.
That's what I want.
Then, it is imported to Mesh, but I found I can't mesh the face as structured mesh.
They are all Triangular, like the attached file.

Please tell me how to make them Quad.

The second method...I can't find the function "virtual topology."
Please tell me how to do.
Thank you!

I found The method SWEEP can't choose multi-faces as target or source.
I tried to split each circular faces to five faces and SWEEP, but it doesn't work.

Hi,

Use MultiZone sweep method with your five faces on one side of the cylinder. Set Mapped Mesh type to "Hexa", Surface mesh method to "Pave", Free mesh to "Hexa dominant" and use "manual source" for Src/Trg Selection.

Hope this helps

Hi~
I tried to find the MultiZone Sweep method, but I can't.
Can you tell me how to find the MultiZone Sweep method?
Thank you!
