How to Optimize Pro/E for Laptop

I'm running Pro/E 2001 on an IBM Thinkpad T23 and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for optimizing the setup for best performance on a laptop.

Before I requested my laptop, our IT group setup up Pro/E on a Thinkpad T22 for me to try. It seemed to work fine, I could bring up large assemblies and manipulate dynamically with good results. Now, with the T23, when I bring up even small assemblies, they disappear when I try to dynamically rotate. I'm trying to figure out what the difference is between the demo laptop and the one I have now, but I'm not sure our IT group can locate the original laptop. Any suggestions for how to best set up Pro/E?

1) make sure you have a good video card that supports and is running OPENGL.
2) make sure you have plenty of RAM.
3) use your config.pro file to setup special options for large assembly management and try view>display settings>performance to set options.
4) make sure the video settings for hardware accelleration is set to FULL.
5) make sure your config.pro calls out OPENGL in the GRAPHICS option.

We run ProE on 3 Dell 8000 laptops, and the graphics performance did degrade after a month or so. PTC or Dell couldn't tell me why, but it could be because of extra clutter from other installed programs. It was cured by restricting the screen resolution - I use 1024 x 1280 and also by limiting the screen colours- I found that 16 bit colour has made the problem go away completely.
