Is there anybody who knows how in mobile phone the microphone is protected from moisture (in some of them it is true).
I know that in some of them it is a piece of "cloth".
Do you know more of it and where can I find supplier?
Greetings

I've never seen a mobile phone that is the least bit resistant to moisture.

Dynamic microphones made using polymer diaphrams and support structures would be completely impervious to moisture (even Immersion), specially true if the electronics cannot short through the water.

Electret condensers I would think would be hard to make completely moisture proof. A double diaphram type design would work, the design would be tricky though, the passband could be quite bad unless serious consideration was made. Also the electronics in this case would be more complex and harder to seal. (Though epoxy dip should work.)

True condensers would be even harder. Most run on a phantom power supply, and the electronics are even more complex. Also condenser mics are generally the ones with the flattest response, these mics can get to rediculous prices.

In fact an IP 42 should be good.
I have seen (in another life :) ) a microphone protected with a membrane of goretex or another stuff but it has been a long time (at least 3 years) and I can't remember a possible supplier

Theres always those big hairy things that the reporters are sticking under peoples noses when they force an interview.

The "hairy things" are for reducing wind noise as far as i know.

I havent seen them since when watching the news in the 70' as a kid. So maybe microphose technology has evolved in this earea also?

Best regards
