Hello everyone:

Could anybody tell me how to remember the toolbar settings when I start a new NX session?

For example: I added some functions into one toolbar (from customize), exit NX, and then start a new NX session, I would still see the newly added icon in this toolbar.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks

You should see the changes in the next session automatically. If you're not, it's because your system is not properly saving your 'user.mtx' file in the...

C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Unigraphics Solutions\NX6

...folder. Whenever you log off a session, the system saves all of the toolbar/menu settings in the 'user.mtx' file and the next time you start a session (as long as you're logged-in using the same username as the last time) the system reads the information in the file and returns all of the toolbar/menu options back to the state when the files was saved. The only problem with this is that it saves the information every time you leave NX so if you make a change or perform a reset or accidental switch to Role, you can't get back to where you were. That's where 'User Roles' come into play. The advantage of a 'User Roles' is that they only get saved when you decided to save it, and you can use the roles to reset the toolbar/menu settings back to the roles version anytime you wish by just selecting your 'User Role'.

Now the way to save a User Role is to go to your Resource Bar and open the Roles palette and expand the 'User' section and with your cursor over the 'white space' and press MB3 and select the 'New User Role' option. Follow the options on the dialog and hit OK and you will now have a Role which will have captured the current toolbar/menu settings. If you make any future changes and wish to update you User Role, just go to the Roles palette and select the icon for your User Role using MB3 and select the 'Edit' option and then hit OK and your role will be updated.
