HOW TO RESTRICT A PIN INSIDE A HOLE

HI THERE
Lets say i have a 10 diameter hole and 8 diameter pin
now i want this pin inside hole(not concentric) moving freely inside the hole (like what happens in real life)
how can i do this in assembly?

Maybe make the surface of pin tangent to edge of hole?

Hi, NIMANIMAX72:

You can use "limit" mates (under advanced category) between the pin and the hole.

Below are steps you need to set up the mate:

1) Create a pin with an axis;
2) Create a block with a hole and an axis;
3) Create an assembly with the block and the pin;
4) Mate bottom of the block to bottom of the pin with a "coincident" mate;
5) Add a "limit" mate between the axis of the pin and that of the hole;
6) Set Min. limit distance as zero;
7) Set Max. limit distance as 0.5 times [(ID of the hole) - (OD of the pin)].

Now, you can drag the pin which is restricted inside of the hole.

Depending on your purpose, you can also use "physical dynamics" in assembly.

just mate the pin from the end to the top surface of the hole or use perpendicular planes. this way the pin can move around in the hole but not in and out
