How to run a 6V starter motor in a 12V circuit

OK. good point. just let it run at double the speed. BGut what if this causes mechanical damage. May I ask, what would be the best suggested course of action to run run a 6V starter motor with a 12V source. If you require the same speed. Note, It is in a DC circuit, has a fully rectified 3Phase generator/ alternator. Just toying with series resistance, electrionic choking, would like some insight from seasoned, smartera people than myself. Thanks.

You could just using a correctly sized dropping resistor. However, a nicer solution is to use a power amplifier. You can set the amp so you can adjust the voltage reference. Also with a power amp, you could use voltage feedback to make it a regulated circuit. I shouldn't take too much of a circuit to do this.
