Running NX 6.0.2.85 and Teamcenter V 10.0.3.8.6

I'm not sure if this is possible - it would be extremly useful though.

I'd like to start from an Isometric view of my part, rotate it 90' about the x-axis, and save that view so that for ANY assmebly I pull up I'll have my "X_ROT90" view available.

Furthermore, i'd like to assign a hotkey to this view.

I know that I can save a view in any given part or assembly, but I don't want to do it for every part/assmebly for the rest of time.

There are two approaches that you might consider.

The first would be to update your template file(s) to include any additional user-defined view(s) which you would like to be able to use with your future models without having to create them manually each time they would be needed.

The other would to develop a NX Open program or Journal file which when executed would define and save the user-defined view.

John,

Thanks for the speedy reply as always. Do you have eng-tips forums forwarded to your blackberry or something?

Unfortunately, all the parts that I would like to add this view to are already created. So for future parts approach #1 would work fine, but not for this particular case.

I'll look to develop an NX open program or Journal file.

Can I directly assign a user defined view to a hot key? I'd like it to function the same way the "Home" button works for isometric views.

Well, certainly if you had a program or Journal to create this view on-the-fly, the executing of this could be triggered from a toolbar Icon and/or hotkey.
