Hello everybody,

I am trying to make convergence studies for my model and I have to calculate stress at a particular location for different mesh to make sure that the stress is not changing anymore with more and more finer meshes. But, as I change the mesh, the location of that point is also changes. In that case, what can I do? Also, when the body got deformed, then the location of the point also changes. As far as I know, in most of the cases, people find the maximum stress for all kind of mesh and plot it. But if any body want to show that, stress at a particular point is not changing wrt mesh size or DOF, then what is the solution?

Thanks,

Pratik

You might be able to partition the surface at that point. After that I believe the mesher will always put a node there.

Hi Danstro,

Thanks for your reply. I know this, but the problem is, after I have completed running it for more than one day, without partitioning, I remember this. So I asked if any body has some alternative. What I tried to do then is to apply view cut and tried to find some node inside. But I was wondered when I saw that Abaqus show only the node numbers of surface nodes not interior nodes. is there any way to see the node labels of interior nodes?

Thanks,
Pratik

I think you do not need to track the stress at particular node, how about tracking the variation of stress along certain path at different meshes. I guess this might be better.

Yes, you can use the path option; or just average them manually from the nearest nodes/integration points

Thanks both of you. I think these are the only possible ways.
