Hi,

Is it possible to simulate the behaviour of an piezo accelerometer using a function generator and an oscilloscope?

I know that most of the time, vibrations are measured in ips or g. I been trying to convert these units to AC voltage.

My thinking is that if i can convert ips to V, I would be able to simulate an accelerometer by outputting a Sine wave.

Am I correct?

Normally accels have a charge amp for the piezo element. if you simulate the output of the amp, then it should work. Voltage will be proportional to g. Alternately, sample an actual output then use the sample...
