HOW TO SIMULATE SYNTHETIC ROPE WITH TENSION ONLY

Hi everyone!

I`m confused about the simulation of synthetic ropes in Siemens NX 9.0.

I need to create e.g. 1D mesh with the relevant properties, but to simulate only tension (not compression, nor bending).

Is it possible to use Rod elements? What is the objective of your analysis?

Thanks for the response!

Unfortunately, Rod elements won`t give the proper results (I don`t need compression at all).
Maybe it is possible somehow to disable the "compresssion" property in rod element. In such a way it will be an ideal element for me.

I need to simulate displacements of the scheme (I`ve attached the rough sketch).

There`s no difference for me what kind of the solution to be used for the analysis.
It is just necessary to get the proper values of displacements.

Hi MStas,

I found an article as attached, but it is in FEMAP, no harm take a look since the NX Nastran Solver is the same...
Apparently I do not own this article.
