First of all, I'd like to admit that I've only really used ANSYS (seriously anyway) for a few weeks in a FEA course, and I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing.

Basically, I want to mesh a very basic solid model that's in the shape of a rectangular block with a couple of holes on it. The problem is, I don't have a way of figuring out the element size.

Prior to this, everything I've done is in 2D, where I had LESIZE and AESIZE that could be used to control element sizes. So far, I haven't been able to find a command that works the same way in 3D.

The help file on ANSYS isn't being too helpful, and the answer is so basic that I can't even find a solution on the internet. I'm basically at my wit's end...if someone could help, I would be very thankful!

See the ESIZE command.

you can easily use aesize command in 3d too.in this case the edge size of the solid element will be equal to the size specified. if you set a small size for areas of your model the the mesh will get finer.you have to fist consider the edge size of your model (guess 1 meter) and then specify size on your areas (eg 0.1 meter) then if you specify (0.01 meter) then your mesh will so much finer
