I have one RS485 network with 21 devices (pH/ORP transmitter) linked with one converter RS232/RS485. Then, the information is sent to a computer, which has a program to calibrate, and compensation temperature of electrodes. I want to split that network in two. Do I need other converter and other comm port into computer? The program accepts more than one network.

Thanks.

Yes you need another port and converter if you really want "two" seperate networks. Not sure why you want to do this but you can (if PC has another port).

Buzzp,

This network could support up to 32 devices. However, the Refinery conditions is not ideal, and I have had significant amount of serial errors. Then, the idea to split the existente network (21 devices) in two.

Thanks for your help

Carefully review your terminating resistors. This could be the origination of your problem. I believe B&B electronics has some good application notes about terminating resistors.
