Hi,

I have a complex set of parts that I need to associatively subtract from an assembly then add features referencing the geometry. I have tried the combine feature and mate one at a time this is problematic as I cannot add a new part to the combine without deleting the combine. I tried to do a join at the assembly level then do a combine but it still sees the individual parts. If I do a saveas part then combine I loose associativity. Any other suggestions, I'm stumped?

p.s. I'm running 2010.

thanks,

Start a new part at assembly level at be at part edit mode. Now using Join option, join all the parts in that part (use combine further if you need to make one body). Now edit the part from which you want to subtract those part and using cavity option, remove the new part from that part.
