A VFD wiht a maximum cable size of 120 sq.mm, but due to the installation being a bit far from panel, a 185 sq.mm cable is needed, I wonder how can I fit these cable terminals? should extension bus be installed on the VFD terminals to handle these big lugs?

Transition box (junction box) close to the drive? Or a cast resin / heatshrink / coldshrink joint in the first few yards of cable?

If you are right out on the distance limit have you considered whether the drive needs filters to work properly?

These will drop your size about 2 AWG sizes.
