Hello,

I am currently creating a model which consists of a side profile with a cross-section, I have created a surface using these two sketches and i now want to thicken them. However, when using the thicken tool, I get an error (i have attached an image of the part and the error dialogue for clarity).

I am using NX 12.0 - also as it is a sheet, I also cannot use the shell feature. Any advice on how to proceed with this?

Thanks

Rough offset works with complex geometry, perhaps extending/trimming the resulting sheet, creating a cap sheet and sewing into a solid will get what you're looking for.

NX 12.0.1.7 Windows 10

If the point / junction , as shown in my image, is a sharp corner, you will find that the resulting surface has a tiny but still a small bend/"Radius" there.
( there is no edge from that point.)
The surface will be within the applied distance tolerance from that point ( edit the feature and you can see the tolerance used)
, and if you would measure the radius of the surface there you will find a very small value.
This is why the offset fails. the distance cannot , without self intersecting, be larger than this radii.

You can try draw a new ( cross-? ) curve trough that point and include that in the surface, else you need to do this surface as two separate sheets.
If you have an edge trough this point, the offset does not have to cope with this tiny bend .

Regards,
Tomas
