Hi,

I am using SolidWorks 2018 for CAD design of a piping system.

I designed a 90º elbow with solid circular section using the sweep feature. I would like to make it hollow. I used the same sketches to draw 2 circuferences, one at each side. Then, I tried to use boss-sweep and sweep-cut, but without sucess. Solidworks gives me an error saying that it was not possible to define the path.
How can I make my part hollow?

Any help appreciated,
Best regards,
AndradeSilva

The thing with SolidWorks is that the same results may be achieved many different ways, but also there are many different ways things may go wrong.

It would be better if you provided model of your part (or similar one if confidentiality is concern).

This way it would be possible to analyze error message and try to develop work-around.

Until then, you may want to design your hole as separate solid and subtract one from another (there is also more then one way to do so :))

Include two circles in your original sketch for the sweep, showing both the outer and the inner diameters. That way your original sweep will be hollow.

Hi,
Thanks for the 3 replies. I highly appreciate.

I attach the CAD model of my elbow. It is just a 90 degree elbow. I attach it to be possible for someone to figure out what's wrong.

I appreciate your replies and hope to get a solution!

Best regards,
