Hi all!

New to Abaqus software and I have a question....

I am Currently running a static analysis of a steel T joint, however I don't have the option for viewing the (EE) elastic strains in the results section.

As a project I have to compare two identical structures, except one analysis uses elastic material properties and the other uses esto-plastic (what is the best way to do this)?.

Please find the model in the attachment (and remove the plastic material properties as needed)....

Thank You!!!!
Oliver

You just need to request that output from the field output manager. See image below

with NLGEOM=ON you activate the large-displacement formulation which uses logarithmic strain (LE).

Thank you for your help!

I am also a bit confused as to why the Plastic strains are lower than the elastic strains,

(for the exact same model and load, except one has not been given Plastic material properties).

surely you'd expect the deformation to be greater in the Plastic case as its higher on the stress stain curve?
