HP 48 Gx connection to a PC

i have had a HP 48 Gx for some time (my 20 year old HP-41 died but is in for service - oh i miss my 2nd brain!).

i recently purchased a PC connectivity kit for the HP 48 but damn as hell if i can get the PC to communicate with the 48.

any one out there used the 48 (or HP 49) with a PC with success?
