Anyone know of any mills that would be willing to hot roll a small quantity (10,000 lbs or less) of 1-9/16" square bar? The material needs to meet ASTM A350 Grade LF2 Class 1 specs. I am having a tough time finding anyone to do it. Hate to go oversees but I might not have a choice in this case (Hope I have not offended anyone). Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

This is an odd request in that ASTM A 350 is a material specification for forged or ring-rolled flanges, fittings and valves, as described in the scope, for piping components.

Scott Forge could be one option. They melt their own steel and can forge square bar. I believe they have supplied A/SA 350 steel. This would be a special order.

I second the nomination: if Scot Forge won't do it, I doubt any company in North America would.

Thanks. I have already contacted Scot Forge and they dont do anything smaller than around 5". Although ASTM A350 is a forging spec, Section 5.3.3 in the spec has an allowance for hot rolled bar to be made to the spec. I guess since hot rolling allows for recrystallization, the end result in material properties will be close enough. Actual forged bar in the size I need will probably never happen. Of course, hot rolled bar to the A350 spec probably wont be attained either, at least not here in the states. Thanks for your input anyway.
