Some times HTRI gives a warning message that the maximum process temperature is outside correlation range of automatic Tube material data bank. What is the implication of it and how to avoid it.
Example:
For SS 316 material it states that data bank limit is 260 C / 204 C for material 20, whereas process temperatures are higher at 308 C and 216 C. Why the data bank limits are low for such material.

Material 20 in my HTRI databank is Aluminum 1060-H14...

316 stainless tubing would be material Material 9, and can go to much higher temperatures than 260/204C...

Thank you marty.

Subsequently I verified and agree with your observations. This instance is an Air Cooled Heat Exchanger design. Material code 20 corresponds to Aluminimum Fin for which maximum temperature for Thermal conductivity is 204 C. where as in the present design FIN Tip and Fin root temperatures are 180.34 C and 188.37 C and hence the warning message by HTRI is no problem.

For SS 316, the code is 09 as you said and there is no issue.

Thank you once again for your response.
