Hub centric rings

I am a mechanical engineer and a car enthusiast, but not an automotive engineer, so I am asking for some very technical advice:
I want to install aftermarket wheels on my car and I need to use hub-centric rings. I would like to know what are the standard tolerances on the hub OD/wheel ID and what kind of fit do I need for the rings?

Tolerance doesn't really come into play when ordering hub rings. You need your car's current hub size (ring I.D.) and the wheel's hub size (ring O.D.), that's it. I've seen sizes jump in 0.5mm increments.

Your options are aluminum and plastic, people typically swear by one or the other. Plastic doesn't stick to the wheel or hub when swapping rims, so you can't (easily) put on a rim that has two rings. Personally, I like the aluminum because they do stick... means I don't have to wonder where the ring is, I know it's still in the wheel. A pair of rings for each rim set and you're good to go with every swap.

I would run a slight interference say 0.005" interference in the wheel and 0.005" clearance on the hub so it stays with the wheel. To be real fussy, you could use a little loctite in the wheel and a little antiseize on the hub.

I have had plastic. They fell out and got lost and ended up with 2 on one hub when careless tyre fitters did their thing.

The plastic ones also distorted with heat in my case.
