We are evaluating an alternate for an 800-ton chiller plant. One of teh alternates we intend to study is a Hybrid chiller plant using (1) 400-ton adirect fired absorber, (1) 300-ton cnetrigugal chiller; and (1) 100-ton screw chiller (which is intended for the 24-hour cooling).
When you figure a Hybrid chiller plant, at what tonnage does a Hybrid starts making sense (I've heard of around 1000-ton).
What percentage Absorber/Centrifugal do you normally use (60% absorber/40% cnetrifugal?)
We also intend to model a variable primary flow, any draw backs in using VPF with absorbers?
The project is a 250,000 SF new office building in the mid-atlantic area of the US.
Thank you
