Hi everyone,

I have an inquiry directed mainly to those that are familiar with ASTM B163 (or ASME SB-163).
In the hydrostatic test point it is indicated that the tubes shall be tested at a pressure of 1000 psi provided that the fiber stress wich is indicated in the same standard is not exceeded. Up to this point I understand that the test pressure should be 1000 psi or less.
When referring to U-bent tubes, the following is indicated: "The required fiber stress for computing hydrostatic test pressure shall be 26 600 psi"
My question is, in U-bent tubes is the test pressure still 1000 psi (or less) and the 26600 psi just are a new limit that I should not exceed when testing at 1000 psi? or the hydrostatic test pressure shall be calculated using the 26600 psi?
Thanks in advance

Have you calculated the test pressure for your tubes using the 26600 limit? What is it?

How is the hydro sections fro the utube worded exactly.
There is usually an equation, and and the stress limit (26600), and they often restate a max test pressure.
Is there any ref to a max test pressure in the utube test section?
I don't have a current copy of B163 to check against.
