Hydrostatically pressed stator bars 1

I came across a document from a supplier that mentioned hydrostatic pressing of resin rich stator bars. I can't find much information on the net about this. The processes for VPI and ordinary resin rich using a mechanical press are well described. What are the advantages and disadvantages of a hydrostatic process from an electrical and mechanical point of view?

The application is two pole air cooled generators in the range of 100-200 MW with voltages less than 15 kV.

I think the purpose of pressing is to consolidate the insulation and also end up with a coil with flat/straight sides so it can easily be inserted into a slot ending up tight with no gaps.

"hydrostatic pressing" doesn't make much sense to me because it implies uniform pressure which does not tend to result in flat surfaces (in contrast mechanical press applies more pressure to high points and less to lowpoints which ends up with flat surface).

Maybe they meant mechanical press, driven with hydraulics?

Hello

The Technicall term is Hot Press, this machines are designed to manufacture resinrich coils, the coils are preformed coils with straight parts insulated with resin tapes, the straight or active sides of the coil are tappered with special materials resin impregnated, due to this active coils most be heated up to the right temperature in order to consolidate this resins and also the process involves this active sides most be fixed (molded)and this is where the hydraulic presses acts.
