We are modifying an Existing vessel (20 years old), Modification scope is replacing the existing boot with new one of large size. I would like to know after modification wheather the vessel can be done for the full hydro test or only the modified portion to be hydro tested.??

It likely depends on the rules in your local jurisdiction.

However, if it were in my jurisdiction, the answer would be yes to the full vessel.

Can you even isolate the modified portion?

Regards,

Mike

The problem with sloppy work is that the supply FAR EXCEEDS the demand

@SnTMan

Some temporary arrangement is required at the Modified portion to isolate for hydrotest.

Is this a ASME Code Stamped Item? Is the organization a NB 'R " Certificate holder? The NBIC has some guidelines. Contact the Jurisdiction. How about the Insurance Company for the in-service? As a reminder if the repair is not conducted by a NB Certificate holder it is quite possible that if it is an ASME Item once the repair or alteration begins it is no longer a ASME vessel and the Stamping/Nameplate shall be removed.
